Last month Colin Kaepernick participated in a workout in Atlanta, and many have been waiting for the outcome of the situation, and recently the NFL commissioner provided an update.
According to CNN, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell spoke at the National Football League owners’ meetings at Las Colinas, in Irving, TX. When asked about Colin’s workout, he said, “This was … about creating an opportunity, which Colin’s representatives came out in early October and we created that opportunity. It was a unique opportunity — an incredible opportunity and he chose not to take it. I understand that. And we’ve moved on here.”
The workout was organized, and multiple teams were confirmed to attend the workout, which was originally planned to take place at the Atlanta Falcons facility. However, Colin decided to change the workout location to a high school in Riverdale, south of Atlanta, so that it could be open to the media.
Following the workout, he said, “So we’re waiting for the 32 owners, the 32 teams, Roger Goodell, all of them to stop running,” Kaepernick said after the workout. Stop running from the truth, stop running from the people.”
Colin’s team reportedly said that the NFL rejected the standard waiver that they originally proposed, and they were set up with a liability waiver that the league wanted him to sign. The waiver was described as “unusual,” and addressed “employment-related issues.”
His team sent a workout video to every team in the NFL.
Although the workout didn’t lead to him getting picked up by a team, Jordan Veasy, one of the receivers that participated in Colin’s workout with him, ended up getting signed by the Washington Redskins’ practice team.
Roommates, what are your thoughts?
