NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell Praises Player Protesters For Going From ‘Protests to Progress’

A few NFL players have been criticized for protesting social injustice for the past few weeks, leaving some, like #BrandonMarshall from the Broncos, without a couple of endorsements they entered the season with. While outside companies may not be supporting these athletes, the NFL fully supports these men and will continue to encourage them to use their voices to incite some much needed change.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell spoke to a group of reporters before the Vikings vs. Green Bay on Sunday and explained how they feel that the progress stemming from the protests is quite positive. “As I’ve said before, I truly respect our players wanting to speak out and change the community,” Goodell said. “We don’t live in a perfect society. We want them to use that voice. And they’re moving from protests to progress and trying to make things happen in the communities. And I admire that about our players, (being) willing to do that.”

The commissioner went on to explain how the NFL is encouraging the players to continue their protests in a respectful way. “Obviously, we want to respect people. We want to respect our differences. We want to respect our flag and our country, and our players understand that. So I think where they’re moving and how they’re moving there is very productive, and we’re going to encourage that,” he said.

It’s awesome that the NFL has their player’s backs! Now, if only we can work on these endorsements…
