In what feels like a much-needed move, the “Verzuz” team announced “the healing Verzuz” featuring gospel icons Kirk Franklin and Fred Hammond.
The Verzuz series has brought a lot of love and light during the pandemic, bringing people together even when we can’t physically see one another.
After successful battles including Babyface and Teddy Riley, Nelly and Ludacris, Beenie Man and Bounty Killer, and the record-breaking one featuring Erykah Badu and Jill Scott, it seemed like it was only a matter of time before the Verzuz team would take it to church.
Understandably, the black community in the U.S. has been in a state of unrest as people demand justice in the slayings of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor. It seems as though this “healing Verzuz” is right on time (a double entendre for my church folks).
The Verzuz team put some real thought into this one, so those who are planning on tuning in, be prepared to get taken to church!
The opening words to the show will be given by Bishop TD Jakes.
Just to make sure y’all on time, church starts at 5 p.m. EST this Sunday.
