On Thursday, hundreds of bodega’s around New York City plan to close, in order to protest against Donald Trump’s recent travel ban.
According to NBC New York, the protest was organized by a group of Yemeni business owners, who are out to prove that they play an important role in the New York City area.
The protest will take place from 12pm-8pm on Thursday. Following the shut down of their stores, the organizers plan to rally at Brooklyn Borough Hall.
Adnan Alshabbi, who owns a bodega in the Bronx said, “We have to fight, we have to stand up.”
Last week protests broke out at John F. Kennedy airport after Donald Trump’s executive order, which prevented people from Yemen, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Syria for 90 days. Leading to people being detained at the airport or sent back from the U.S.
