If you’re a gamer, you may be happy about this. Netflix just announced that it will add video games to its catalog.
According to CNN, the streaming giant will now offer video games within the next year.
The newly added video games will appear on the platform as a new genre. Netflix is known to increase its prices, but for now, it’s reported that the streaming giant “doesn’t plan on charging extra for access to games.”
“This feels like a significant event with broad ramifications across the video-games landscape,” Citi analyst Jason Bazinet wrote in a note Thursday. He said Netflix’s move creates “obvious risks” for larger game developers and publishers,” Bloomberg reports.
Adding these new games could be a good way for Netflix to remain the top shareholder in the streaming world.
Netflix has had several changes within the last year. From a price increase to cracking down on passwords, the streaming giant is slowly changing its infrastructure.
Netflix recently bought a multi-part documentary on the life of Kanye West for a whopping $30 million!
Kanye West has been documenting his life ever since he entered the entertainment industry 20 years ago, and luckily for his devoted legion of fans, all of the behind-the-scenes moments of the legendary rapper/producer/designer’s life will officially be available for all to see.
