Netflix and chill just got a little bit more interesting! Netflix just invented socks that detect when you’ve fallen asleep and pauses your program for you. Crazy right?
The socks are a DIY project that you can make if you know how to knit and have a little bit of electronic knowledge. They were created to solve a problem that a lot of people go through but no one really talks about, that being the “Are you still watching?” screen that pops up when you haven’t been active on Netflix for a while.
What happens with the socks is a red light flashes when it detects that your body hasn’t moved for a while and after a few seconds of the LED light flashing, the socks will pause the program. The “accelerometer” is supposed to be extremely sensitive and knows when you’re just sitting still, versus when you have actually fallen asleep.
Netflix already gets credit for how they have revolutionized how we watch TV, if this sock invention catches on and works out how it’s supposed to, they might just become a top innovative company like Apple! Instructions for how to make the socks can be found at makeit.netflix.com
