Less than a year after saying they were “absolutely not” going their separate ways, Monique Samuels reportedly filed to divorce Chris Samuels. March 3 marked 11 years of marriage for the pair.
PEOPLE reports that the former couple are due back in court today (June 21). However, neither has spoken about the pending divorce on social media.
According to PEOPLE, Monique filed a petition to seal the documents, but their reporting found that she first filed in April. And on June 15, she filed an amended complaint–still seeking the divorce.
A re-cap family vacation video Monique posted on May 30 didn’t feature Chris.
However, the former NFL player shared photos of himself on May 28 featuring a tropical background.
Monique Samuels filed at the Montgomery County Family Court in Maryland. The Samuels were featured on “Real Housewives of Potomac” for about three seasons.
While RHOP highlighted issues in friendship, like the televised fight with Candiace Dillard Bassett, their “Love & Marriage: DC” stint spotlighted relationship woes.
Monique Samuels Denied Reports Of A Split Last Year
The “Not For Lazy Moms” founder acknowledged those relationship roadblocks (and televised outbursts) in a YouTube video in October 2022.
Sitting next to Chris, the former couple denied reports of a split by PEOPLE and reassured fans that they were working on their marriage.
“The process that we were going through was in order to fix our marriage by focusing on our individual issues. We wanted to take a step back and focus on ourselves,” Monique said.
At the time, they admitted that they were spending “some nights apart” while they went through their individual processes, including therapy.
Now, it’s unclear if the parents of three are sharing the same home or what their desires for custody and financial assets are.
For weeks after the YouTube video, Monique Samuels uploaded content featuring her now-estranged husband and their three young kids.
As of Wednesday (June 21), the last post on Monique’s feed that features Chris was shared in December. It appears to be a family trip to Eygpt.
Weeks before, in November, the former couple attended Porsha Williams and Simon Guobadia’s traditional Nigerian wedding.
As of January 7, Monique’s posts have been hyper-focused on her morning segment on WPGC 95.5 FM, family life, and brand deals. Meanwhile, Chris Samuels has also seemingly kept his estranged wife off his Instagram while posting their kids and friends.
However, on Mother’s Day, Monique Samuels replied, “Awwww, this is so sweet!!! Y’all look so handsome,” to a boomerang of her eldest son holding a Mother’s Day sign.
