Missy Elliott recently copped a new piece of ice that’s worth a double take! The music industry icon hopped on Instagram over the weekend to flex her custom, diamond necklace. Her new rope featured a pendant inspired by Missy’s hit song ‘The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly).’
She didn’t share much details about the personalized piece. At this time, it’s unclear how much coins Missy spent on the chain or how long it took to make. However, Missy’s face and influence is definitely at the forefront of its creation.
Missy’s Instagram post included a video of the detailed piece. She credited B&B Jewelry in her caption for completing her custom chain. The chain itself is a work of art featuring white and gold diamonds. However, the charm is what grabs any eye that’s familiar with Missy’s legendary work.
Her pendant serves as a self-portrait inspired by her ‘The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)’ music video. Released in 1995, the debut single featured fashion looks that are remembered and still recreated to this day. Missy’s new pendant, in particular, is influenced by the trash bag outfit worn in the video. The charm features the same makeup, headpiece and even facial expression as the real deal.
Breaking Records
The gift comes nearly a month after Missy hit an enormous milestone with her music. As previously reported, Chart Data revealed that all six of Missy’s studio albums are “certified [RIAA] Platinum or higher,” which is the most among female rappers.
“This is a HUGE MILESTONE,” Missy wrote in a repost of Chart Data’s tweet. “No matter how long it took to get here I am here & I AM HUMBLY GRATEFUL.”
Now, Missy’s certified projects include Supa Dupa Fly (released in 1997), Da Real World (1999), Miss E…So Addictive (2001), Under Construction (2002), This Is Not A Test (2003), and The Cookbook (2005).
