Rapper Suspects She Looked “High” While Wearing The Blow-Up Suit Around Brooklyn
On Thursday (Aug. 10), Rolling Stone hailed the 1997 bop as the greatest hip-hop video of all time. Notably, this honor came just in time for the genre’s 50th birthday on Aug. 11, 2023.
In light of the honor, Missy quote tweeted a post about it and added a lil’ story that involved her walking through Brooklyn while donning the getup.
Specifically, Missy Elliott noted that she had to walk to a gas station “to get air in this blow-up suit.” However, the outfit “blew up so big” that she couldn’t get into the vehicle, so she had to stir up a solution.
“The suit blew up so big I couldn’t fit in the car so I had to walk back to set down the street in this outfit in BROOKLYN.”
She humorously added that bystanders must have thought she was under the influence at the time.
“Dem ppl was riding pass like she must be high.”
Fun fact I had to go to a gas station in Brooklyn NY to get air in this blow up suit & the suit blew up so big I couldn’t fit in the car so I had to walk back to set down the street in this outfit in BROOKLYN😳 dem ppl was riding pass like she must be high😩🤣😂 https://t.co/NnSv9TVR0G

Missy Jokes About Being “On A Budget” For The Music Video
Missy’s story didn’t end there, as she added that all her walking resulted in the suit deflating a bit.
“If you look at the music video it had deflated by the time I got back to set so [in] some scenes the suit [was] flat after all that walking.”
High as a kite🤣😂🤣 I wonder if anybody from Brooklyn saw me that day walking down the street in that hot ass suit🤣 if you look at the music video it had deflated by the time I got back to set so some scenes the suit flat after all that walking😩🤣😂 https://t.co/ugyY27Uqo1 pic.twitter.com/YC7n8uljtU

While these scenes theoretically could have been edited out or reshot, Missy noted that they “kept the scenes where the suit was deflated,” which was “so hood.” After all, they were “on a budget!”
Funfact about the blow up suit deflating so the first lil clip is after they had to keep blowing the suit up but the second clip you can see the suit deflating but shit we was on a budget so we kept the scenes where the the suit was deflated 😩 that was so hood😂😂😂🤣 https://t.co/afGByCFjyS pic.twitter.com/WRLBjYGhFK

Missy’s insight behind her “The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)” getup comes about three months after she made history by becoming the first female rapper to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, as The Shade Room previously reported.
In response to this news, Missy Elliot wrote, “I want to say this is HUGE not for just me but all my Sisters in HIPHOP this door is now OPEN to showcase the hard work & what many of us contribute to MUSIC.”
