Missy Elliott & H.E.R. Team Up For Epic Pepsi Super Bowl Commercial

Roommates, the Super Bowl is just days away, but apparently Pepsi couldn’t wait to reveal its latest commercial set to air during the big game. The brand’s new ad features both the legendary Missy Elliott and legend-in-the-making R&B artist H.E.R., as they team up to show us some fierce girl power.

Thanks to Pepsi, Missy Elliott is back to remind you exactly why she’s a living legend—and she’s bringing H.E.R. along for the ride. Both talented ladies are starring in Pepsi’s Super Bowl commercial to promote its Pepsi Zero Sugar product. The 30-second teaser of the ad features Missy and H.E.R. singing a cover of The Rolling Stones’ classic song, “Paint It Black.”

As expected with anything Missy does, the visuals of the commercial are stunning and filled with vivid colors, intense choreography and memorable rhymes. The clip opens with H.E.R. taking a sip of the Pepsi Zero Sugar and then running through a brick wall to meet up with Missy in an all blacked-out universe, as Missy spits her verse over a beat she co-produced with her long-time friend Timbaland.

Speaking about the new Pepsi commercial, Missy had this to say:

“I’ve been following H.E.R.’s career closely; her talent is undeniable. When the opportunity came up, to not just work together but collaborate and create something all our own, we had to make it happen. I called up Timbaland and Sean Bankhead, I got the best of the best to make sure we brought the noise and did Pepsi Zero Sugar right.”

H.E.R. also expressed her excitement at working with Missy:

“Everything about this experience — from the music, to the shoot, to the collaboration with an icon like Missy — it was really special. Pepsi gave us the creative liberty and platform to create this song and the video, it’s an honor and I think people will appreciate how real we tried to be with the final product.”
