Miley’s Convo With Bey About Their Chart-Topping Duet
Miley and Beyonce recently collaborated on “II Most Wanted” for the 42-year-old’s latest project, ‘Cowboy Carter.’ It is a continuation of her 2022 album Renaissance, which features a mixture of Black dance, disco, and house music. Miley told the mag that she “wrote [the] song, like, two and a half years ago.”
Cyrus stated that her mother was always fond of the track. The 31-year-old said, “My mom would always go, ‘I love that song so much.'” She continued, “…when Beyoncé reached out to me about music, I thought of it right away because it really encompasses our relationship.”
Cyrus said she texted the mom of three that they embodied country music because of their upbringing, and there was nothing they had to do to “get country.”
“I told her, ‘We don’t have to get country; we are country. We’ve been country,” Miley shared. She continued, “I said ‘You know, between being from Texas and me being from Tennessee, so much of us is going to be in this song.”
The Disney alum added, “Getting to write a song, not just sing, for Beyoncé was a dream come true.” The song landed in the top 10 on the Billboard charts. It peaked at No. 6.
Miley Cyrus’ History With the Queen
In 2006, 13-year-old Miley referred to the 29-time Grammy winner as a “big role model.” Miley stated that her “mom is always telling me, ‘What would Beyoncé do?'”
The ‘Adore You’ singer finally met Bey two years later, in 2008, during a charity performance. Rihanna and Mary J. Blige also performed. She recalled how the women were “protective” of her.
Additionally, she told W that for Christmas 2008, Mrs. Carter “sent [her] a House of Deréon jacket that said Miley on the back in gold studs, which is [her] favorite, and some jeans with [her] name on it.”
Miley loved the gift so much that she shouted her out in her song “Cattitude.” The lyric said, “And for my 16th birthday, I got Deréon from the house of the queen.'”
