Mike Jackson, The New Face of Mr. Clean, Is Black a Black Man and He Has Stepped Into The Shade Room!

For 59 years, #MrClean has been the figurehead for men who like things clean! His parent company, Proctor and Gamble, recently held a competition to find #TheNextMrClean and Atlanta native, Mike Jackson (@mrcleanmj) won!

When we caught up with the newly-minted Mr. Clean, we asked if the company was in the process of rebranding like other companies in an effort to diversify. However, this wasn’t quite the case! “Basically, Mr. Clean has been working for 59 years and needed a break,” Jackson began. “So, he’s taking a year-long vacation right now and the whole purpose of #TheNextMrClean competition was to find someone to fill in for him.”

According to Jackson, all types of people entered the contest and it wasn’t limited to just bald-headed, white men. Women and men of all ages and backgrounds peppered the #TheNextMrClean contest hashtag! Overall, the new Mr. Clean says that he is stoked about his new job and feels that he is a great fit due to his preference for cleanliness. “I definitely am particular about things being clean,” he said. “It’s not like I’m an extreme neat freak or anything, but I do like things in order. Plus, I already use the products! I keep a Magic Eraser in the house at all times.”

This week, Mike Jackson will be making his media rounds and may make an appearance at the Super Bowl this weekend! His (and my) home team, the Atlanta Falcons, are gonna beat the Patriots!!

Happy Black History Month, Roommates!
