What Happened In The Viral Video With The Michigan Man

So, here’s what went down. Harris was scheduled to appear before Judge Simpson virtually. While his public defender introduced herself inside the courtroom, the Michigan man decided to dial in from the driver’s seat. The entire interaction from there was captured in a one-minute-and-fifty-second video.

Immediately after Harris joined the call, Judge Simpson was on him! The Ann Arbor district judge didn’t even let the defendant fully say “hello” before asking him, “Are you driving?”

With no hesitation, Corey shot back, “Actually, I’m pulling into my doctor’s office actually. So just give me one second.”

The judge’s face instantly changed into a half-smirk, half-baffled look. He even dropped his pen-holding hand out of the frame, looked around his courtroom, and then placed his chin in his hand.

A few seconds later, Judge Simpson asked Corey, “You stationary?” Again, Harris reassured the court that he was “pulling in” and then enthusiastically said, “Yes, I am.”

After the public defender explained that she and Harris were seeking an adjournment for their case of three to four weeks.

“So maybe I don’t understand something. This is a driver with a license suspended,” Judge Simpson asked. After the lawyer confirmed, the judge responded, “And he was just driving, and he didn’t have a license.”

That was the moment the Michigan man realized he **expletive** up! His mouth dropped slightly open, and an “Um” slipped out as his lawyer confirmed that her defendant was indeed driving without a license.

How The Judge Reacted To Defendant Driving With Suspended License

As the Zoom call continued, Judge Simpson expressed his shock and handed down Harris’ consequence.

“I don’t even know why he would do that. So defendant’s bond is revoked in this manner. Defendant is turning himself into the Washington County Jail by 6 p.m. today. Failure to turn himself in will result in a bench warrant with no bond.”

The Michigan man reacted by throwing his head back into the driver’s seat and whispering, “Oh my God.”
