Michelle Obama became the hot topic of everyone’s book club when she released her memoir “Becoming” late last year. Now the book is on track to become one of the most successful memoirs in history.
According to CNN, on Tuesday the parent company to publisher Penguin Random announced that our Forever First Lady has sold nearly 10 million copies. It instantly became a bestseller following its release last November, making it one of the most popular books of the decade.
Thomas Rabe, the chief executive of Bertelsmann, a parent company of Penguin Random House said, “We believe this could be the most successful memoir in history.”
According to CBS News, chief executive Markus Dohle said, “I’m not aware, in my personal experience with Penguin Random House, that we ever sold 10 million units of a memoir.”
Following the release of the book, Michelle embarked on a national sold out book tour to promote the book. Selling more than 1.4 million copies during its first week. The memoir chronicles Michelle’s childhood in Chicago and covers her life after the White House.
