Looks like Melania Trump is not here for taking any advice from Michelle Obama, even though she served as our first lady for 8 years!
In her new memoir “Becoming,” Mrs. Obama shares how she extended the same courtesy to Mrs. Trump when she left office that her predecessor, Laura Bush, gave her. If she needed help, Obama said she was always just “a phone call away,” but according to our former First Lady, Melania has yet to reach out or take her up on the offer.
When asked if Mrs. Trump has ever called in an interview with ABC News’ Robin Roberts, Michelle Obama said “No… No, she hasn’t.
Well, the White House is admitting that Mrs. Obama was telling the truth and said that Melania doesn’t need any of her assistance.
“Mrs. Trump is a strong and independent woman who has been navigating her role as First Lady in her own way,” Trump’s communications director, Stephanie Grisham, said in a statement to CNN. “When she needs advice on any issue, she seeks it from her professional team within the White House.”
Well, okay then.
During the interview, Mrs. Obama added that she doesn’t judge how Melania tackles her job as First Lady. “One of the things you learn as a former, it’s, like, I don’t judge what a current is doing, you know?” Obama said. “So I’d prefer not to, you know, speak on what she’s doing versus what I did because I think every first lady approaches this job differently.”
Michelle and Melania reportedly only met once after the election for tea, which was described as “awkward.” In “Becoming,” the former FLOTUS also admitted she was unable to pretend to be happy during Donald Trump’s inauguration. “Someone from Barack’s administration might have said that the optics there were bad, that what the public saw didn’t reflect the President’s reality or ideals, but in this case, maybe it did. Realizing it, I made my own optic adjustment. I stopped even trying to smile,” she wrote in the book, which hits bookstores today, November
13th!
