More Details Regarding The Announcement Of Michael Strahan’s Daughter
According to the outlet, Strahan and his daughter Isabella revealed the news during an interview with his home network ‘Good Morning America.’ The pair explained that the 19-year-old is “battling a malignant brain tumor.”
The tumor is known as medulloblastoma.
Mayo Clinic reports that the tumor is cancerous and “starts in the lower back part of the brain.” The outlet adds that it is the “most common type of cancerous brain tumor in children.”
According to Good Morning America, Isabella was diagnosed with the tumor in October 2023, during her freshman year of college.
“I didn’t notice anything was off till probably like Oct. 1,” Isabella explained. “That’s when I definitely noticed headaches, nausea, couldn’t walk straight.”
After undergoing medical tests at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, doctors informed Isabella that she had a “fast-growing 4-centimeter tumor, larger than a golf ball, in the back of her brain.”
Watch Strahan and his daughter share their recollection of the events below.
According to Good Morning America, Isabella underwent emergency surgery to remove the mass from her brain on October 27, 2023. She reportedly learned to walk again with the help of her twin sister, Sophia.
Additionally, Isabella has also undergone a month of rehabilitation and “several rounds of radiation treatment.” In February, she is scheduled to begin chemotherapy.
Isabella explained that she’s ready for her battle with the tumor to be “one day closer to being over.” However, she hopes sharing her experience can inspire others.
“It’s been like, two months of keeping it quiet, which is definitely difficult,” she explained. “I don’t wanna hide it anymore ’cause it’s hard to always keep in. I hope to just kind of be a voice, and be [someone] who people, maybe [those who] are going through chemotherapy or radiation can look at.”
Additionally, Isabella is focusing on gratitude.
“Perspective is a big thing,” she shared. “I’m grateful. I am grateful just to walk or see friends or do something, ’cause when you can’t do something, it like, really impacts you.”
