Many celebrities have been stepping up to the plate to help with the relief in the Bahamas following Hurricane Dorian. Now Michael Jordan is the latest celebrity to help out with relief efforts.
According to Sports Illustrated, Michael Jordan said in a statement, “I am devastated to see the destruction that Hurricane Dorian has brought to the Bahamas, where I own property and visit frequently. My heart goes out to everyone who is suffering and to those who have lost loved ones.”
He continued, “As the recovery and relief efforts continue, I will be tracking the situation closely and working to identify non-profit agencies where the funds will have the most impact. The Bahamian people are strong and resilient and I hope that my donation will be of help as they work to recover from this catastrophic storm.”
Earlier this month the category 5 hurricane made its way to the Bahamas destroying many homes and businesses. Many celebs such as Tyler Perry and Ludacris have been using their resources and platforms to help bring relief to the island.
Michael Jordan is no stranger when it comes to lending a helping hand. Last year, he made a $2 million donation to those who were affected by Hurricane Florence in his state of North Carolina. He even made a visit to his hometown of Wilmington to hand out Thanksgiving meals to victims of the hurricane.
We continue to send our love and prayers to those that were affected by Hurricane Dorian.
