Michael Bae Jordan in spandex? Yes, please! There’s a chance Michael will be jumping from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to DC as he is reportedly in talks to play the next Superman.
Now nothing is set in stone, but Variety reports that as DC Films plots its continued comeback, execs are looking to revive the Superman franchise with a fresh face, and it appears Michael B. Jordan may be that fine face.
The studio is trying to find a way to make Superman relevant to modern audiences and in addition to having discussions with director J.J. Abrams, there was a meeting with Michael B. Jordan earlier this year on a vision for the character.
However, Michael reportedly isn’t ready to commit to taking on the project since filming doesn’t seem likely to happen for another couple years. It’s understandable, considering he’s booked and busy with several projects.
Insiders think that a new Superman film is unlikely to hit screens before 2023, since the studio doesn’t have a script and no director attached to the project.
But that does not mean Warner Bros. and DC won’t be busy during that time. The studio is coming out with a few expected heavy hitters in the next few years including Margot Robbie’s “Birds of Prey,” which is a Harley Quinn spinoff following the character’s breakup with the Joker.
The studio also has a Batman reboot coming, which will feature Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, and Gal Gadot’s “Wonder Woman 1984” hitting in the summer.
While these movies sound good, I think a lot of people are on board for Michael Bae Jordan as Superman so let’s hope things work out and they make bae’s vision happen!
Roomies, would you be here for Michael B. Jordan as the next Superman or do you have someone else in mind to play the popular superhero? Let us know!
