Whew! Roommates, it’s no secret that for over 25 years now, Method Man has been one of the finest on the planet——and thanks to the latest digital cover story from ‘Essence,’ we get to bask in all his beautiful melanin just in time for Black History Month!
In the interview, Method Man discusses his resistance to being a sex symbol, despite being the man crush of many since the mid-90s. “I don’t understand that sh–. I go to the gym for my own peace of mind. I don’t do it to become someone’s sex symbol or a pinup on someone’s wall. I do it for me. People like attention. I’m the same as everybody else. But at the end of the day, take me seriously, not lightly.”
He also spoke about the decision to transition from being one of the leading voices in hip hop to killing it in Hollywood through multiple TV and film roles. “There was a changing of the guard in hip-hop. I was cool with that. I had to evolve with the business and if that meant acting, so be it. I was going to throw all my eggs in one basket,” he said. You can catch Method Man every week on the Starz hit series “Power Book II: Ghost” as a powerful attorney.
Whether he’s entertaining his millions of fans on TV and in movies, making music or posting regular workout videos on social media that women everywhere save for safe keeping, there’s no denying that Method Man will always be one of our ultimate crushes.
