We’re pretty sure you have seen some of the hilarious videos from Reggie “Luni” Ray on Instagram. He is most known for reenacting some iconic moments from some of our favorite reality shows. We wanted to take a deeper look inside and get to learn a little more about the person who creates some of the content that keeps us laughing for days.
We caught up with Luni to see what motivated him to start creating some of these reenactment videos, some of the craziest reactions he has gotten from making these videos, and what opportunities his videos have led to.
When asked what led him to make reenactment videos, Luni dated his first video back to 2016 and said, “It basically started when I did a Lil Mama remake back in March 2016 when she was “Posing as Mrs. Beyoncé.” I don’t know why or what made me remake that video but that was one of my first viral videos. Worldstar posted it on their website as well. From there I saw the reaction of making so many people laugh so I decided to keep it going with different videos whether they be random or from TV shows we all watch as black culture.”
Now one may ask how does Luni go about choosing what shows to recreate, and he let us know the ideas basically come from the shows that he watches on the regular basis, or his supporters reach out to him suggesting different video ideas.
As you can imagine, Luni not only captures the attention of his followers but also from some of the stars he’s portraying. Nonetheless, he says that he has gotten nothing but positive responses from the people he’s portrayed in his videos.
He said, “They’ll repost my video on their page with long captions and so many emojis to where I know they were really laughing. I haven’t met anyone yet to receive verbal reactions, but it’s always overflowing love and support from everyone on social media.”
With Instagram being a large social media platform, we have seen many up and coming stars, such as Luni, receive amazing opportunities due to the popularity of their content.
When asked about any opportunities he’s been blessed with so far, he said, “In the words of Yung Miami, I got flewed out to Cali to see the screening for Shaft before it was released. This was my second time ever going there. I didn’t know Samuel L. Jackson was going to be at the premiere, so it was unexpectedly an amazing experience. Everyone involved getting me out there took really good care of me. A few people from reality shows have reached out to me and asked could I personally remake something for them. Nothing hasn’t happened yet as far as my rapping and music goes but I’m sure the best is yet to come.”
