Billboard announced their first ever R&B/ Hip-Hop Power Players event, and Meek Mill will be honored with its inaugural Impact Award.
According to Billboard, the purpose of the event is to honor those who are “driving, influencing and guiding the industry.”
Van Jones will present Meek will with the award, which recognizes his fight for prison reform, and also his musical success.
Billboard said the award observes, “the strength he has demonstrated in the face of America’s criminal justice system, the light he has shined on the country’s need for justice reform and his constant creative output, including 140 million total streams and five Top 10 releases on the Billboard 200 albums chart.”
Also being honored at the event is Kevin “Coach K” Lee and Pierre “Pee” Thomas, the COO and CEO of Quality Control Music. Some of the artists on their roster include Migos, City Girls, Lil Baby, and Lil Yachty.
