#Roommates, McDonald’s has officially entered the chat! If you thought the chicken sandwich wars were over after the absolute hysteria throughout the last few weeks, well you’re wrong because McDonald’s is ready to come for Popeyes and Chick-fil-A’s necks.
As reported by @Complex, McDonald’s is apparently set to grab a “bite” of the spotlight from the competition courtesy of a new chicken sandwich the fast-food giant hopes will rival both Popeyes and Chick-fil-A. The McDonald’s Spicy BBQ Chicken Sandwich is coming your way in just a few days.
The Spicy BBQ Chicken Sandwich and the accompanying Spicy BBQ Chicken Tenders will be available at all McDonald’s beginning September 11th. Interestingly, McDonald’s’ timing of the debut of the new chicken sandwich definitely looks like it’s an attempt to get some of the money and attention that Popeyes has grabbed in the last few weeks—but according to insiders McDonald’s sandwich was originally announced back in June.
The Spicy BBQ Chicken Sandwich is described as an “all-white meat” fillet served with pickles and onions, while the chicken tenders are reportedly a “classic” take on buttermilk crispy tenders, but also “hand-tossed and perfectly-sauced” in a new spicy BBQ glaze.
Only time and taste buds will tell if McDonald’s can inspire the food and social media craze Popeyes has with the new chicken sandwich. Whatever the outcome, we’ll definitely be waiting for the verdict.
