Maxine Waters Calls Out Jim Jordan After His Exchange With Dr. Fauci

Today, representatives held a House Select Subcommittee hearing regarding the coronavirus crisis and things got real heated—to say the least. Representative Maxine Waters channeled her big auntie energy and intervened in an exchange between Republican Representative Jim Jordan and Dr. Anthony Fauci. As many of you may know, Fauci is the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases and has loaned his expertise to the nation throughout the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The hearing was centered around the federal government’s response to the deadly crisis. Dr. Fauci testified at the hearing. Jim used his allotted time to question Dr. Fauci on when the United States could begin relaxing protective measures in place, such as social distancing and wearing masks. Jim asked the question in the terms of Americans getting back to “having our liberty.” Afterwards, Dr. Fauci responded that the time will come after more Americans are vaccinated causing the infection numbers to drop to a point where it’s “no longer a threat.” The answer wasn’t satisfactory enough for Jim because he quickly shot back asking for the specific number.

“We had 15 days of ‘slow the spread’ turn into one year of lost liberty,” Jim said. “What metrics, what measures, what has to happen before Americans get more freedoms back?”

After that, the conversation took a downhill turn. Jim and Dr. Fauci initiated in a back and forth that prolonged for a few minutes.

“You’re indicating liberty and freedom,” Dr. Fauci responded. “I look at it as a public health measure to prevent people from dying and going to the hospital,” Fauci countered. “This will end, for sure, when we get the level of infection very low. It is now at such a high level, there is a threat again of major surges.”

Eventually, the subcommittee chair, who is Democratic Representative James Clyburn of South Carolina, told Jim his time had expired. Jim attempted to continue asking Dr. Fauci questions.

So, that’s when Maxine said “nah” and called out Jim for his disrespect.

“You need to respect the chair and shut your mouth,” Maxine told Jim.

Roomies, you know if it’s one thing Auntie Maxine will do is check somebody! What do you think about today’s exchange?
