Late Thursday, Matt Barnes took to social media to share his thoughts on the suspension of Ime Udoka. As previously reported, Matt said he thought the Boston Celtics made a terrible decision by suspending Udoka for the entire NBA season. Now Matt is issuing an apology while saying he spoke without having all of the details.
Matt took to the gram to share that he deleted his original post where he said the Boston Celtics made a terrible decision of suspending Ime Udoka for the entire season because he spoke out without having all of the facts.
He said,
“This situation in Boston is deep, it’s messy, it’s a hundred times uglier than any of us thought and that’s why I erased what I said. Some things happened that I can’t condone, I can’t back and it’s not my place to tell you what happened. If it ends up coming out, it ends up coming out, but that’s the reason I erased my post last night.”
Matt said he received a call from someone who filled him in on all of the details after he made his post.
As previously reported, in his now-deleted post, Matt said, “I played in the league for a long time. Anyone in the league could tell you this is a very common situation. This is not new news for people who’ve been in the league or around organizations. I’ve seen it from owners to executives, to coaches, to players, to trainers, to therapists, to dancers, to PR ladies. This is not uncommon.”
He also spoke about Udoka getting a one-year suspension like Robert Sarver, and they were suspended for two completely different things.
