Earlier this year news broke that Mary J. Blige filed for divorce from her husband of 12 years, Kendu Isaacs.
Now she is opening up and revealing her reason as to why she decided to put an end to their marriage.
This morning the “Thick Of It” songstress appeared on Good Morning America and talked to Robin Roberts about her divorce. She said, “My heart is OK, I’m hanging in there. I mean, no one wants to go through this and this is hard. I’m hanging in there.”
When asked about the moment she knew that she had to make a change, she mentioned the lack of respect playing a big factor. “It just seemed like I was beating a dead horse and it seemed like I was talking to a wall. I just wasn’t getting it back so if I can’t get respect in the relationship, then I have to move on and save myself,” said Mary.
By now we all know Isaacs is looking to get $129,000 a month from Mary in spousal support. Nonetheless, she has been focused on her artistry, as she is currently on tour with Maxwell.
When it comes to offering advice to women in the business who can possibly face what she is currently going through, she said, “You cannot rely on people to handle your business. You have to handle your business. You have to take responsibility and stay on top of it because things like this will happen if you don’t.”
