Roommates, during a recent interview to promote her new album ‘Good Morning Gorgeous,’ Mary J. Blige was asked about her to decision not to have children and as always, she kept it real. In the brief clip, Mary J. Blige said that she likes her “freedom” and the ability to “move how she wants to move” without having to “tend to someone all the time.”
Following her amazing Super Bowl halftime show performance and continuing to promote her latest album, Mary J. Blige is making the press rounds—and she recently spoke with E!’s Daily Pop to discuss what’s next for her, specifically as it relates to not having children.
When host Justin Sylvester asked her if she regretted not being a mother, Mary had this to say:
“I have nieces and nephews forever and I’m always watching how people are scrambling for baby-sitters. I don’t want to go through that. I like my freedom to go and move and do what I want to do. I don’t want to have to tend to someone all the time.”
She continued, adding “Right now that’s where I’m at. But, I don’t think it’s [having kids] gonna happen.” Mary was previously a step-mother when she was married to her ex-husband Kendu Issacs, who has multiple children from previous relationships.
Meanwhile, earlier this month, Mary J. Blige announced the creation of her first-ever ‘Strength Of A Woman Festival And Summit,’ which will be a three-day event held in Atlanta during Mother’s Day weekend, May 6th through May 8th.
