For all of you comic book fans, it looks like Iron Man is about to get way more interesting. The Iron Man series will continue with the introduction of a new character, 15-year-old, Riri Williams.
According to Time, the series “Civil War II” will pick up in the upcoming “Invincible Iron Man” series with Williams being the next one to wear the Iron Man suit after Tony Stark has put it down.
The new character has been inspired by the work Iron Man writer, Brian Michael Bendis did a few years ago in Chicago.
He said,” One of the things that stuck with me when I was working in Chicago a couple of years ago on a TV show that didn’t end up airing was the amount of chaos and violence.” He continued, “And this story of this brilliant, young woman whose life was marred by tragedy that could have easily ended her life—just random street violence—and went off to college was very inspiring to me.”
Williams, a student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology reverse engineers the Iron Man suit in her dorm room and that’s how things will get started for her in this series.
When it comes to the recent diversity reflected in Marvel, Bendis reveals that it has everything to do with the world that currently surrounds us. He also says past creators have admitted that they wish they could of been more diverse, but it just wasn’t where the world was at time.
Without giving away any spoilers, Bendis did reveal that Stark and Williams may come face to face after he hears of her flying around with his suit.
Details on the release of the new Iron Man have yet to be released. However, if it is turned into a film like the others, it will definitely be amazing.
