Mariah Carey will be a special honoree at this year’s Billboard Music Awards as she is set to receive the Icon Award.
According to Billboard, aside from receiving the prestigious award, Mariah is also scheduled to hit the stage and perform a medley of her hit singles.
We all have known Mariah to not only kill it on stage throughout the years, but she has also been killing it on the charts as well. According to the site, Mariah led the Billboard Hot 100 in each year of the 1990s, which made her “the only artist to top the chart in every year of any decade and has had 18 total No. 1s on the chart.”
Aside from that, six of her albums have reached the No. 1 spot on Billboards Hot 200 albums chart. Mariah will now join past Icon Award honorees Janet Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Lopez Celine Dion, Cher and a host of others.
She took to social media to express her excitement and said:
The 2019 Billboard Music Awards go down on May 1st in Las Vegas and will be hosted by Kelly Clarkson.
