Mariah Carey has reportedly filed a lawsuit against her former personal assistant after she claims the assistant recorded her doing “embarrassing” things and then threatened to release the videos if she didn’t give up $8 million.
According to the documents obtained by TMZ, Mariah filed the lawsuit against Lianna Azarian. Mariah says she hired Lianna back in March 2015 as her executive assistant. She claims it wasn’t too long before Lianna overstepped her boundaries and started doing things like using her credit card to purchase personal stuff and also using her name to get deep discounts.
Mariah reportedly says she didn’t know Lianna was filming her “personal activities” to which would be “embarrassing” and also damaging to her personally and professionally if they were ever to be revealed.
Lianna reportedly showed the videos to her friends and claimed if she were ever fired she would sell them. Mariah claims she paid Lianna as much as $327,000 a year but fired her back in November 2017 and that’s when the blackmailing started.
Now Mariah claims that Lianna has demanded $8 million in exchange for the videos, and if she didn’t receive it, she would release the clips along with other damaging information. It is unclear what’s on the videos, but the lawsuit did describe them as “intimate.”
Mariah is demanding the videos and any other evidence back. She’s also suing for unspecified damages, as well as more than $3 million.
