Mariah Carey, Maxwell & Kendrick Lamar Headlining 2016 Essence Festival

Festival season is quickly approaching and everyone knows that one of the hottest festivals to go down is Essence Festival in New Orleans. This year the festival will take place on June 30th to July 3rd. So make sure those tickets are booked!  

 

Recently the lineup for this year was announced and so far confirmed performers include Mariah Carey, Maxwell, Kendrick Lamar, Faith Evans, Tyrese, Charlie Wilson, Ciara, New Edition, Babyface,Kelly Price, Estelle, Jeremih Dej Loaf, Tink and many others.

  

 Essence President, Michelle Ebanks said, “The ESSENCE Festival is back in New Orleans with an extraordinary roster of the biggest names and best performers in entertainment—from global music icons to the industry’s rising stars. We are welcoming Kendrick Lamar, Mariah Carey and Maxwell to headline the Superdome main stage. In addition, we will be embracing newcomers like Leon Bridges, Jeremih, Lion Babe, Dej Loaf and The Internet, as well as fan favorite Charlie Wilson for the ultimate cultural experience in New Orleans this July 4th weekend.”

 

Also this year Essence will present the first ever World Music Superlounge, with artists representing Durban, South Africa. Performers hitting the stage include, Wizkid, Zakes Bantwini and Skye Wanda. Last year it was announced that the festival would also expand to Durban, South Africa in collaboration with eThekwini Municipality.
