#Roommates, this story is so heartbreaking. A mother is in mourning today after she revealed that her 27-year-old son, Telemachus “Tel” Orfanos, who survived the Las Vegas mass shooting was among the victims of the recent mass shooting at a California bar.
“My son was Tel Orfanos and we lost him last night at the Borderline shooting,” said Susan Orfanos in an emotional plea for gun control, according to @CNN. “My son was in Las Vegas with a lot of his friends and he came home. He didn’t come home last night, and I don’t want prayers, I don’t want thoughts, I want gun control.”
Orfanos was one of 12 victims in Wednesday night’s mass shooting which occurred during a college country music night at #Borderline Bar and Grill in #Thousand Oaks, California. Orfanos and another man, Brendan Kelly, were both survivors of last year’s Las Vegas mass shooting, the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history, and were both in attendance at the packed bar that night.
The shooter, 28-year-old U.S. Marine Corps veteran Ian David Long, was also killed in the shooting but his cause of death has not been revealed. While authorities have not revealed a motive in the shooting, reports have indicated that Long had run-ins with the law and often visited the site of the shooting.
Also among the 12 victims are Alaina Housley, the niece of Adam Housley and Tamera Mowry-Housley, and a sheriff’s deputy who was fatally shot responding to the scene.
Kelly, the Las Vegas shooting survivor who survived Wednesday’s shooting, told the Associated Press that he already “didn’t wish it on anybody to begin with for the first time.”
“The second time around doesn’t get any easier,” Kelly said.
He said he heard the gunfire and chills went up his spine.
“You don’t think it’s real — again,” he said.
