The man responsible for the passing of Morgan Freeman’s granddaughter was sentenced to 20 years in prison.
According to NBC News, prosecutors say that Lamar Davenport, 33, stabbed his girlfriend E’Dena Hines multiple times back in 2015 while he was reportedly under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
Lamar reportedly issued an apology on Thursday during his sentence hearing and said, “I don’t remember what happened.” He was convicted of first-degree murder back in May 2018.
E’Dena was an aspiring actress and appeared in the 2014 film “5 Flights Up,” which also starred Morgan Freeman. Following her passing, Morgan said in a statement to USA Today, “The world will never know her artistry and talent, and how much she had to offer. Her friends and family were fortunate enough to have known what she meant as a person. Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts, and prayers. May she rest in peace.”
Morgan’s publicist previously pointed out, although E’Dena was his step-granddaughter he always referred to her as his granddaughter.
We continue to send our condolences to the family of E’Dena Hines.
