Roommates, one of the men who was allegedly. involved in robbing Safaree at gunpoint last year has decided not to take his chances at trial, and has reportedly pled guilty to the crime.
According to TMZ, Carl Harry is one of three alleged robbers, but he’s apparently cut a pretty good deal with the prosecutor. He pled guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit theft, and prosecutors have agreed to recommend a sentence of 364 days in Bergen County Jail. He’s also looking at 5 years probation after serving his sentence.
Initially, Carl was facing 6 charges, totaling a potential sentence of 20 years behind bars. His other charges have officially been dropped.
The other two men charged in the crime, Shawn Harewood and Tacuma Ashman, are set to go to trial in December. Both men are still facing 7 count-indictments.
As we previously reported, Safaree was held at gunpoint and robbed for more than $180k in cash and jewelry. Authorities say the men had been tracking Safaree for a whole and caught him in a parking garage, where the incident happened.
This must’ve been their first go round plotting a robber though, because they committed the crime right in front of parking lot security cameras.
Right after being robbed, Safaree appeared on the Angie Martinez radio show, where he was clearly shaken up. Angie asked about what was going on, and fighting back tear, Safaree said he had been robbed.
After that moment, Safaree was clowned by social media for shedding tears, regardless of the fact that he was just held at gunpoint.
The three suspects were identified and booked by police back in February of this year. They were charged with armed robbery in the first degree, unlawful possession in the second degree, one count of resisting arrest, and a host of other charges.
We’re glad Safaree is finally getting justice!
