Today, Yellowstone National Park released a report from an incident that happened back in June where 23 year-old Colin Nathaniel Scott accidentally fell into a hot spring. Documenting the journey via a cell phone, the man and his sister, Sable Scott, illegally wandered off of the boardwalk toward the hot spring and as her brother reached down to check the temperature he fell in.
Upon arrival, rescuers determined that he was dead after seeing the “upper torso of a male victim floating face-up in a pool.” They were unable to retrieve Scott’s body, so they came back the next morning, however it appeared as though his body had completely dissolved in the hot spring!

Yellowstone’s report stated, “Evidence suggests that the extreme heat and the acidity of the water quickly dissolved his body in the hot spring,” and notes that the cause of death was ‘”scalding due to submersion in thermal hot spring.” They calculated its temperature at over 212 degrees Fahrenheit, by the way! Ouch!
