The time has finally come where the late and great Aaliyah has been immortalized with her very own wax figure.
Wednesday night, the official unveiling of her wax figure went down at Madame Tussauds Las Vegas. The reveal of her new wax figure comes days before the 18th anniversary of her unfortunate passing.
According to Vibe Magazine, Adam Morey, the Studios Manager at Madame Tussauds Las Vegas, says that the development of Aaliyah’s wax figure began a year and a half ago. He said, “This set, rather than being a recreation of any one particular Aaliyah moment, was instead designed with a message to her fans in mind. It’s a message that hopefully reflects her everlasting legacy.”
Aaliyah’s brother, Rashad Haughton was also on hand for the unveiling Wednesday night, and he also played a major role into his sister’s wax figure.
Rashad said, “I was involved in the process from the inception of the project. The team at Madame Tussauds welcomed a collaborative effort in choosing the pose and look of my sister’s figure. They made sure my mother and I were comfortable and supported through an amazing but understandably emotional process.”
The look that was chosen for the wax figure was Aaliyah’s iconic look from her “Try Again,” music video. As many of you know, that look is still popular and duplicated so many times to this very day.
Earlier this month, we reported the news of the wax figure after her brother made the announcement on social media. There were several petitions that urged the museum to create the long overdue figure of the late and great songstress.
