Los Angeles County Sheriff Under Fire For Asking LeBron James To Match Reward Money For Gunman In Deputy Shooting Amid Vanessa Bryant Lawsuit

Roommates, Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva is calling on LeBron James to match the reward money being offered to find the gunman who ambushed and shot two deputies over the weekend. As we previously reported, the deputies were both shot in the head. Despite Sheriff Villanueva’s efforts, many are criticizing his decision to ask LeBron for help after deputies in his department shared photos from the scene of Kobe Bryant’s helicopter crash.

“This challenge is to LeBron James. I want you to match that and double that reward, Villanueva said. “I know you care about law enforcement. You expressed a very interesting statement about your perspective on race relations and on officer-involved shootings and the impact that it has on the African-American community.”

Sheriff Villanueva is asking LeBron to match the $175,000 reward donated from the county and two private parties, but folks on social media are calling him out for not responding to Vanessa Bryant’s lawsuit after deputies allegedly shared disturbing photos from Kobe’s helicopter crash.

Vanessa Bryant shared some tweets on her Instagram story in regard to the lawsuit that she filed just a few months ago.

“How can he talk about testing the system? His sheriff’s dept. couldn’t be trusted to secure Kobe Bryant’s helicopter crash scene, his deputies took and shared graphic photos of rash victims. Vanessa Bryant is suing them,” one post read.

LeBron has yet to respond to the sheriff’s request but Villanueva said he is very interested in seeing what he may say.

“Let’s see what he does,” Villanueva said. “I’ll be very curious to see what his response is, if any.”
