As many people around the world continue to mourn following the passing of PnB Rock, Los Angeles Police Chief Michael Moore spoke out recently and shared some details about the investigation surrounding his death.
Moore said they are investigating whether a social media post may have played a role in the incident. One of the posts was a photo shared by PnB Rock’s girlfriend. However, officials say she is not to blame for the incident, and she is cooperating with investigators.
According to CBS Los Angeles, LAPD Captain Kelly Muniz shared what happened the day of the fatal shooting and said,
“As they were eating, at least one suspect approached them with a firearm and demanded the victim’s property. There was some sort of verbal exchange at this point, we were not able to get audio in the investigation. Then, the suspect shot the victim several times. The victim then fell to the ground and the suspect removed some items from the victim.”
Moore said on Tuesday, “A struggle ensued and PnB Rock was shot and killed. Lost his life there, simply over the jewelry and valuables he had on his person.”
Information on the suspect and how they got away has not been made available. Investigators are checking security footage from inside the Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles where this unfortunate situation occurred, as well as security footage from surrounding businesses to see if they can capture an image of the suspect, and how they were able to get away from the scene.
As previously shared, during a recent interview with DJ Akademiks, PnB Rock shared that during a different situation someone tried to rob in LA while he was with his daughter and girlfriend.
We are continuing to keep PnB Rock’s loved ones lifted in prayer during this difficult time.
