Lizzo recently took to Instagram and seemingly revealed she is quitting the music industry.
The New York Post stated the superstar is tired of being “the butt of the joke.”
The singer, 35, posted a message explaining her emotions to her 21.1 million Instagram followers.
“I’m tired of being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet.”
“All I want is to make music and make people happy and help the world be a little better than how I found it,” she said.
“But I’m starting to feel like the world doesn’t want me in it,” Lizzo added.
“I’m constantly up against lies being told about me for clout & views…” the Grammy winner explained.
She continued, “being the butt of the joke every single time because of how I look… my character being picked apart by people who don’t know me and disrespecting my name…”
She ended her message by stating, “I didn’t sign up for this s*** I QUIT.”
Celebrities extended words of encouragement.
Rapper Killer Mike commented, “Keep Ya Head Up, Champion @lizzobeeating Love and Respect.”
Actress and comedian Michelle Buteau added, “We love you, boo.” She accompanied her message with a pink heart emoji.
Additionally, the ‘Special’ singer’s followers showered her with love to encourage her not to allow hater to dim her light.
As previously reported, the singer’s announcement follows her former backup dancers’ lawsuit against her. Furthermore, they accused the singer of sexual harassment and weight shaming. Moreover, the dancers claim Lizzo cultivated a toxic work environment.
The flutist denies the claims.
