During a recent show in Glasgow, Scotland, Lizzo helped a fan get engaged, and the heartwarming moment was captured on camera!
Lizzo Helped Out A Couple Named Grant & Ryan
Videos shared to social media show that the interaction was sparked by the singer taking note of a message on an audience member’s phone, which read, “Ask my brother’s boyfriend to marry him.”
Lizzo ultimately complied with the request, as she had the fan’s brother—Grant— FaceTime his partner and hand the phone to the “Truth Hurts” singer.
While on stage, Lizzo proceeded to make small talk with the man, Ryan, before she revealed that Grant had a major question for him.
Grant then proceeds to ask for Ryan’s hand in marriage, and—while he’s “too stunned to speak”—he accepts.
Lizzo then shares a congratulatory message and hypes up the audience before passing back the phone and continuing with her show.
Check out a few different clips of the interaction down below.

She Isn’t Afraid To Share Her Spotlight
While on the subject, we have to point out another instance of Lizzo sharing the stage to allow others to bask in the spotlight.
As The Shade Room previously reported, the artist was recently honored with the People’s Champion Award back in late 2022. While accepting the award—which was presented by Shari Johnson-Jefferson, her proud mother—Lizzo proceeded to welcome seventeen noteworthy activists to the stage.
“To be an icon isn’t about how long you’ve had your platform. Being an icon is what you do with that platform. And ever since the beginning of my career, I’ve used my platform to amplify marginalized voices. So, tonight I am sharing this honor. Make some noise for the people, y’all!”
Lizzo proceeded to introduce each and every one of the activists while giving a brief run-down of their respective causes. Honorees included Shirley Raines of Beauty 2 The Streetz, Amariyanna “Little Miss Flint” Copenny, and Tamika Palmer—Breonna Taylor’s mother.
After sharing the stage with these seventeen activists, she passionately exclaimed, “Power will always be to the people!”
Shoutout to Lizzo for helping Grant propose to Ryan, and we wish the couple well!
