Cassie and Diddy have been the trending topics for the last week. Surveillance footage of Sean Combs assaulting his ex-girlfriend in a hotel hallway in March 2016 and his recent apology for it is the reason.

While the public has heard from multiple celebrities since the footage became public on May 17, Cassie broke her silence for the first time on Thursday (May 23). She didn’t name-drop Diddy but opened up about her continued healing from domestic violence. Mrs. Casandra Fine started by thanking her “family, friends, and strangers” for their love and support.

“The outpouring of love has created a place for my younger self to settle and feel safe now, but this is only the beginning. Domestic violence is THE issue. It broke me down to someone I never thought I would become. With a lot of hard work, I am better today, but I will always be recovering from my past,” she wrote in an Instagram-shared statement.

Fans, Celebrities & Social Media Users Flood Casandra’s Public Platforms

Within two hours of the statement’s release, social media users continued to flood the ‘Me & U’ singer with love and support. Her Instagram statement has received over 36,000 comments and more than 483,000 likes.

Miguel’s ex-wife, Nazanin Mandi, wrote, “The courage, strength, grace & fortitude you possess is immense to say the least. As we eternally stand with you, keep walking in your power beautiful, inspiring soul. You are BELOVED. Love you always.” 

Chloe Bailey added, “We love you so much Cassie.” 

@lucie_madeline added, “Cassie! When I met you, I noticed you were radiating with kindness. I have been thinking of you every day since the video leaked and how many feelings you must be going through. I am so impressed with your strength and happy you and your girls can feel safe with Alex. Safety is the most important feeling, without that trust, you have nothing. So excited for what the future holds for you!”

Two Days After Her Assault, Cassie Bravely Stepped Out Hand-In-Hand With Her Abuser

It’s been over eight years since the March 5, 2016, abuse incident. Despite the brutal footage, he won’t be facing any charges for it, said the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Cassie opened up in her statement about being in a “powerless” situation. Note that just two days after Diddy dragged and kicked in a now-closed Los Angeles hotel, they attended two public events.

Casandra braved the flashing lights on the red carpet of her movie premiere ‘The Perfect Match.’ She smiled graciously, laughed, and held side conversations (and hands) with Sean Combs. Then, they attended the premiere’s afterparty.

Celebs Have BEEN Speaking Out Since The Viral 2016 Footage Dropped

Some of the first celebrities to denounce the producer’s actions after the surveillance footage were Judge Greg Mathis, Erica Campbell, and Cedric The Entertainer.

REVOLT issued a statement clarifying their snipped ties with Combs and denouncing domestic violence.

Bobby Shmurda didn’t explicitly name Diddy, but he released a passionate video slamming domestic violence. Cassie’s husband, Alex Fine, did the same in a letter, and Bishop T.D. Jakes followed suit in a sermon.

Even former Bad Boy Records rapper Shyne went in on his ex-boss, calling the abuse in the viral video “repugnant.”

No Response From Diddy Yet, But Support For Cassie Continues

At this time, Diddy has not publicly reacted to Cassie’s statement. His apology video has garnered thousands of mixed reactions from social media users, fans, foes, and fellow celebrities.

The apology prompted even more responses from the public, celebs, and folks in his inner circle. His former bodyguard confirmed Cassie’s lawsuit claims.

Meanwhile, Joe Budden went HAM on Combs, especially calling his apology video greedy for “attention” and “tone-deaf.” His comments later led to a heated exchange with his ex-girlfriend, Tahiry Jose, exclusively in The Shade Room’s comment section after she recalled her own alleged domestic abuse at his hands.

Meanwhile, the only person from the disgraced hip hop mogul’s family circle to speak so far has been one of his son’s mothers.

Justin Combs’ mom, Misa Hylton, released a statement earlier this week highlighting the impact of the video on her “own trauma” and Diddy’s younger kids, particularly his four underaged daughters.
