It’s Met Gala Monday (May 1), and celebrities have begun stepping out for “fashion’s biggest night out” on what’s considered red carpet royalty! This year the fundraising benefit for New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art chose ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty’ as the theme. The designer and former Chanel, Balmain Fendi creative, passed away in 2019 at age 85.
The exhibition itself will feature over 150 pieces reflecting Karl’s work across luxury brands like Chloé, Fendi, Balmain, Chanel, and his brand.
As Vogue describes, the Met will welcome “stars, young creatives, and industry paragons.” Anna Wintour will surely be in the building along with hosts like Penélope Cruz, Michaela Coel, Roger Federer, and Dua Lipa.
The Shade Room’s Saran T. contributed to this report.
Celebrities model their themed looks, explore the exhibition, and sit down for a dinner and performance. The Met’s internal environment of the event is kept under wraps by their no phone, no social media policy. One thing we do know is that designers use this night to make bold statements.
