Malia Obama turns 25 on July 4, and this member of the Forever First Family is already goin’ places!
While most people met her as the 10-year-old daughter of the country’s first-ever Black president, Malia has truly come into her own and is taking the world by storm.
Ahead of Malia’s 25th birthday, let’s go over some noteworthy facts about Barack and Michelle Obama‘s firstborn daughter!

She's Worked With Some Industry Greats
First off, we have to acknowledge how Malia Obama earned a spot as a writer for Swarm, an Amazon series that premiered earlier this year.
As The Shade Room previously reported, Donald Gloverconfirmed that he’d brought Malia onto the project back in early 2022.
“She’s just like, an amazingly talented person. She’s really focused, and she’s working really hard.”
Ahead of this gig, she worked as a production assistant on Halle Berry‘s Extant series way back in 2014. Notably, the actress called Malia “fantastic” during a sit-down on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
In fact, the then-16-year-old was noted as having “emerged as a figure of national interest.”
The outlet also pointed out that once her father took office, her name saw a massive spike in popularity.
We stan a young, unintentional trendsetter!

Barack Is Proud Of Her "Bada*s Qualities"
During a 2020 sit-down with InStyle, Barack Obama expanded upon Malia’s influence by dishing on her “buoyant” personality.
“She is just buoyant. She’s somebody who enjoys people, enjoys life, and enjoys conversation.”
He added that his older daughter’s “never bored,” which he called a “bada*s quality that can take [her] places.” IKTR!
We should also add that—when it comes to Malia, Sasha, and Michelle—Barack declared, “They all have multiple bada*s qualities.”

The Secret Service Taught Her How To Drive
During a chat with Rachael Ray, Michelle Obama recalled Malia’s driving journey, which the Secret Service assisted with!
In fact, Michelle recalled, “The Secret Service [taught her], actually, because they wouldn’t let me in the car with her.”‘
She added that while Malia’s driver’s education journey wasn’t conventional, being behind the wheel gave her “a sense of normalcy.”
“Driving for Malia, I think, gives her a sense of normalcy, like the rest of her friends are doing. And my kids have got to learn how to live in the world like normal kids.”
However, we have to know… did the Secret Service teach her any sick driving moves as well?!

Malia Still Had Everyday Responsibilities
While being the president’s daughter has some undeniable perks, Barack wanted to ensure she still had the same ol’ responsibilities as other kids.
During a 2008 ABC News interview, Barack declared that his girls are “not special, you know, in terms of having to do their homework or having to do chores.”
Michelle humorously added that she immediately “set some boundaries” with the White House cleaning staff, as she wanted her girls to “make their beds” and clean up after themselves.
She laughingly noted that she’d tell staff, “Don’t make their beds. Make mine.” PERIOD!

She's A Harvard Gyal
Finally, we have to add that Malia was educated at the prestigious Harvard University.
Malia began attending the Ivy League institution, which both of her parents graduated from, in 2017 after taking a gap year.
She graduated in 2021, joining the plethora of students who were in school during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Shoutout to Malia Obama, and we hope 25 proves to be a great year for her!
