Jesseca Harris-Dupart Cleared The Air Via Social Media Wednesday Morning
Jesseca Harris-Dupart took to Instagram on Wednesday morning to address the criticism of her and her wife. Harris-Dupart shared a carousel video post, and explained that there are “difficulties” in finding a Black sperm donor that the public is “ignorant to.”
“Black men make up 5% or less of the sperm donation pool… once you put in your genetic testing, you’ll be lucky to find one, if any…”
Further in the carousel post, Harris-Dupart included a screenshot of the staggeringly low statistic of Black sperm donors.
In addition, she included her genetic testing results which revealed that she is a “carrier of 4 disorders” which further limited the couple’s pool of sperm donor options.
Harris-Dupart also shared a caption with her Instagram post.
“So , as a mother of 3 beautiful black kids , and even a black grand baby I want to CLARIFY SHIT to avoid this STORYLINE from continuing that we choose our donor off of looks and that we didn’t want a black donor …… here’s some things you should know 1) WE HAD NO IDEA GOING INTO THIS THAT our chances of a black donor would be slim to none 2) that I was a carrier of so many disorders 3) that our window was SOOOO slim and such high risk cus of age and more 4) with my genetic testing I’m the carrier of 4 disorders , that reduced our chances of a black donor down to 1 person and that 1 person had very limited info / portfolio to judge on ….. including BACKGROUND”
Harris-Dupart explained that she is “disappointed” in the lack of IVF knowledge in the Black community.
Additionally, she acknowledged that Da Brat’s joke about the Black sperm donor’s appearance was “distasteful” and also played a role in the “misleading” headlines which contributed to their criticism.
“the headlines are misleading but also my wife made a distasteful joke and now it’s attached to the headline and making it seem like we choose strictly off of looks and we didn’t at all attempt to find a black donor when in fact not only did we try but we also waited to see if more would pop up over time – but had to stay within the window that we had to choose…”
Before concluding, Harris-Dupart explained that the child she shares with Da Brat was conceived with a “healthy” mindset.
Additionally, she hopes that the misunderstanding can bring awareness to the lack of Black sperm donors, prompting an increase in donations.
“our baby created with a HEALTHY baby first mindset once we learned all the things , was a hard decision and of course we didn’t want to add any other stigmas or anything to our child but we had SEVERELY limited options . Thanks to all the people supporting us on our journey and I truely hope this brings Awareness to more black men to donate”

What Sparked The Initial Criticism Of Jesseca Harris-Dupart And Da Brat
The initial criticism of Jesseca Harris-Dupart and Da Brat was sparked after the couple sat down for an interview with The Root, which was published on April 27.
The interview featured a video clip of the couple’s television series ‘Brat Loves Judy,’ where they embarked on a search for a sperm donor.
It was revealed that the couple began the search with a “few thousand.” However, their options were eliminated by “ninety-percent” due to Harris-Dupart’s genetic testing results.
The couple was then left with 300 candidates, and only one was Black.
“And that [dude] looked like Jiminy Cricket. I was like, ‘I’m sorry but that wasn’t gonna be my choice.'”
Da Brat remarked.
The rapper went on to explain.
“Because we didn’t have a lot to choose from, he definitely wasn’t Black. But I think we did a great job with picking. He’s handsome, he’s tall and I think he’s going to look beautiful with my wife’s egg.”

Da Brat Recently Shared An Update Regarding Her Relationship With LisaRaye
The 49-year-old rapper recently sat down for an interview with Blavity, where she shared an update regarding her relationship with sister LisaRaye.
The rapper explained that her sister is “supportive” of her pregnancy.
“As long as we include her, she’s definitely supportive. She just does not like to be not included in anything that’s happening in my life.”
Additionally, Da Brat shared that she informed her sister of her baby’s gender ahead of the couple’s recent gender reveal, as previously reported by The Shade Room.
“Yeah, as long as she knows through us and not through social media, she’s fine. And to this day, I still don’t regret not telling her about my relationship, because that was my choice. I am grown. I think she tends to forget that I am an adult and she’s used to being the big sister, you know? So I felt like I did it how I wanted to do it. And it’s perfect and it’s still perfect. And I’m very proud of my decision of who I love, who I married, and who I am having a child with. And she loves my wife. She just hates it that I didn’t tell her when it first started.”
Da Brat and LisaRaye made headlines in 2020 when it was revealed that LisaRaye felt estranged from her sister due to their lack of communication. Additionally, LisaRaye revealed that she was unaware of her sister’s relationship with Harris-Dupart.
Furthermore, the information was exchanged on live television when Da Brat attempted to surprise her sister on ‘Cocktails with Queens’ for her birthday.
