Jimmy Brooks Beginnings

Going through chronological order, we have to start by taking it back to Drake’s Degrassi: The Next Generation days.

Drake starred as a full-time cast member in the first seven seasons, and his character exited after making a brief appearance in the eighth season, which aired from 2008–2009.

Given that his character was a wheelchair user due to an at-school gun incident, he brought attention to the ongoing firearm epidemic while having a firm place in many Degrassi fans’ hearts.

Early Mainstream Musical Success

Taking it to 2009-2010, we have Drake beginning to make big moves in the industry.

From doin’ his thang on “Bedrock” to creating “Houstatlantavegas,” “Best I Ever Had,” “Over,” and “Fancy,” the Toronto-bred rapper unveiled noteworthy bops that had a lasting impact on his loyal fan base.

Take Care NWTS Stardom

Drake changed the game in 2011 after dropping Take Care. It spawned hits like its eponymous track and other bops like “Marvins Room,” “Headlines,” and “Crew Love.”

The project was an instant classic that continues to get put in rotation. He followed it up with Nothing Was The Same in 2013 — producing tracks like “From Time” and “Wu-Tang Forever.”

From the iconic cover art to the emotive bops, these projects firmly cemented Drake as a noteworthy, big-time music star who continually served with his output.

Mid-Career Creations

Moving along, Drake hopped back into his mixtape bag with 2015’s If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late and What A Time to Be Alive. These projects were followed by another mixtape, More Life, two years later.

As for his album-related moves, he cooked up some heat with 2016’s Views and 2018’s Scorpion.

#2

Fatherhood Era

Stepping away from his artistry and veering into the personal realm, we have Drake entering his fatherhood era.

After Pusha T accused him of having a secret son in 2018’s “The Story of Adidon,” Drake confirmed the news in a verse on Scorpion, in which he declared, “I wasn’t hidin’ my kid from the world / I was hidin’ the world from my kid.”

Since then, Drake has actively shown Adonis off to his fans, and his 6-year-old son recently made his official rap debut, as The Shade Room reported.

Escalation Of Beef With Kanye

Although the bumps in Drake and Kanye’s relationship reportedly date back to the early 2010s, they came to a head later that decade.

From Kim Kardashian-related antics to rap disses, shady interviews galore, and even apparent doxxing, Ye and Drake were not here for each other!

As of early 2022, Drake and Ye appeared to have buried the hatchet — and Pusha T eventually got on better terms with Drizzy as well, as The Shade Room reported.

#4

Early 2020s Rapid-Fire

We also have to point out how Drake was simply grindin’ once he hit the 2020s.

From Dark Lane Demo Tapes in 2020 to 2021’s Scary Hours 2 and Certified Lover Boy, Drake was churning out project after project — and he didn’t stop there!

2022 saw Drake release Honestly, Nevermind and Her Loss, and he unveiled For All the Dogs the very next year.

#5

Announcement Of Alleged Hiatus

Finally, we’ve arrived at Drake’s latest development: his hiatus era.

As The Shade Room reported, Drake said he was considering taking “maybe a year” off to focus on his health, and this was announced on the heels of For All the Dogs dropping.

Considering all that Drake has churned out over the years (particularly in his ‘Early 2020s Rapid-Fire phase), a bit of rest and recovery seems well-earned!

Happy birthday, Drake!
