At midnight, Tekashi 6ix9ine dropped his new single “Trollz,” featuring Nicki Minaj. This is the second collaboration from the two New York rappers, so this track was definitely highly anticipated.
Like every verse that Nicki Mina drops, fans are in love with the bars and they cannot wait to dissect and figure out the meaning for each bar. One bar in particular that caught everyone’s attention was when Nicki said, “Dolla Dolla Bill, come get her. Even ya man know Nicki’s do it better.”
The Barbs started to connect the dots and realized that Dolla Bill was Bernie Mac’s character in the 1998 film “Playa’s Club,” where LisaRaye played the role on Diamond. And late last year, LisaRaye called out Nicole Murphy for allegedly messing with her ex-husband some years back, and Nicki is known as a nickname for Nicole sometimes.
Fans started to assume that this was Nicki’s way of responding to LisaRaye’s appearance on Fox Soul last month where she talked about Nicki Minaj paying homage. The topic came about as they discussed the idea of Nicki Minaj and Lil Kim battling in a “Verzuz” competition.
On Friday, LisaRaye just appeared on The Breakfast Club, and when asked if the Barbs were still coming for her, she admitted at first she didn’t even realize that Nicki’s fanbase was referred to as the Barbs. However, she seemed to be unbothered by some of the comments she had been receiving from fans.
She continued to say, “I’m not saying you’re supposed to kiss a**, I’m not saying that because I don’t believe in that. But what I’m saying is, pay homage to the people that are there before you, and when I said bow down, it wasn’t like…I’m just saying that music shouldn’t be about a beef, it’s not mafia, it’s not gangsta, it’s entertainment. It’s music, so let’s keep it light to where we’re not tearing each other down.”
