Lil Yachty is about to take the game we all know and love, ‘Uno”, to a whole different level. According to Variety, Yachty plans to develop an action heist comedy based on the classic game with Mattel Films. Marcy Kelly, who’s known for being a writer on the hit film “Mean Girls,” wrote the movie’s screenplay set in the underground Hip Hop world of Atlanta. The cast hasn’t been announced just yet, but Lil Yachty is being eyed for the lead actor. Lil Yachty said, “I’m so excited to be part of this film with Mattel. I played ‘Uno’ as a kid and still do today, so to spin that into a movie based on the Atlanta Hip Hop scene I came out of is really special. It hits close to home for me.”
If Yachty gets cast in the role, this won’t be his first time featured on the big screen. In 2019 he starred alongside DC Young Fly in “How High 2.” He has also appeared in a few other movies. Alongside Yachty, Mattel Films will produce the movie with Quality Control’s Kevin “Coach K” Lee, Pierre “P” Thomas, and Brian Sher of Quality Films. Robbie Brenner will serve as executive producer, and Kevin McKeon will be supporting as the supervising producer as well as lead the project for Mattel Films.
Robbie spoke about the movie stating, “At Mattel Films, we are looking to explore stories that bring our brands to life in unexpected ways. ‘Uno’ is a game that transcends generations and cultures, and we look forward to partnering with Lil Yachty, as well as with Coach, P, and Brian Sher, to transform the classic Uno game into a comedic action-adventure.”
It’s amazing how Uno was created in a Cincinnati barbershop in the ’70s as a way for families to spend time together, and now five decades later, the game is still popular and turning into a film! Roommates, are yall hype for this?
