New Orleans-bred rapper Lil Wayne stunned fans when he accepted Dr. Dre’s Global Impact Award from the Recording Academy’s Black Music Collective during Grammy weekend.
Lil Wayne Recalled An Emotional Moment With His Mother From Years Past
Lil Wayne began his acceptance speech by explaining to the crowd how rare it is to see someone reach his stature of success, coming from New Orleans.
You know, like, where I’m from — New Orleans – where I’m from, you’re not supposed to do this…
Wayne went on to recall an emotional moment he shared with his mother Jacinda Carter when he was 14 years old.
I walked into my mama’s room when I was 14. She asked me for a kid because my dad was killed. And her son had just blew up and went on his first tour, and we did not know that b***h was going to be six months.
The 40-year-old went on to thank the mother of his first child Reginae Carter, Toya Johnson. Johnson gave birth to their daughter when Wayne was 16 years old and she was 15, as reported by AllHipHop.
I’d like to thank Antonia Johnson… for reasoning with me and my mom. And my life…

According to HotNewHipHop, the rapper, also known as Tunechi, thanked the other mothers of his children as well.
I’d like to thank every single one of my kids and every single one of their mothers.
According to Blavity, Wayne is also the father to three sons. This includes a 14-year-old named Dwayne Carter III, whom he shared with Sarah Vivan; a 13-year-old Kameron Carter, whom he shares with actress Lauren London; and a 13-year-old Neal Carter, whom he shares with singer Nivea.
Twitter Users Reacted To Lil Wayne’s Revelation
The clip of Lil Wayne’s acceptance speech quickly made its rounds on Twitter. And users didn’t hold back on sharing their reactions. Some questioned if a woman would have been able to share the same story, and be met with acceptance.
What the reaction be the same if someone asked their 14 year old Daughter to do that?

Others extended both the rapper and his mother grace.
Yes it may be weird, strange, etc that his mom asked for a grandchild when he was 14 but this puts on a pedestal the type of shit people are going through and have gone through at home and many don’t even live to speak on how they got through it

And others criticized Carter for pressuring her son for a child at an early age.
Mom seems a bit off & selfish. Being lonely is horrible reason to have a kid but to ask your kid to have a kid because you are lonely is out of control.

Roommates, what are your thoughts about this?
