Rapper Lil Uzi Vert is sharing his opinion on DJ Drama’s claim that his single, “Just Wanna Rock,” is the new Philadelphia anthem. The DJ feels that the new single replaces Meek Mill’s 2012-released single “Dreams And Nightmares.”
The rapper appeared at the 2023 GRAMMYs on Sunday and spoke exclusively with REVOLT TV about the DJ’s claims. And admitted that he doesn’t feel the single has surpassed the weight of Meek Mill’s “Dreams And Nightmares.”
I don’t think so. That song like been around for a very long time, and that song is still hitting exactly the same way. I’m just gonna have to see, you know, in a couple of years or a decade or whatever.
Lil Uzi went on to explain that he has a very strong relationship with Meek Mill. And hopes that the fellow Philly-bred artist wishes to see him put out a single like the 2012 track.
[Meek] that’s a big Homie from Philly, and that’s like one of my big homies. So I just like feed off the energy that he gives actually to be able to even produce or put out that type of music. So like, hopefully, like s**t, hopefully. He [Meek] would hope that for me too. Not yet though it’s too early to tell.
Meek Mill also responded to DJ Drama’s comments with a brief tweet earlier this month.
Intro been lighting the world for 10 years! Like shaking rooms for years!
Prior to this, DJ Drama spoke exclusively with TMZ and gave his thoughts on “Just Wanna Rock” overpowering Meek Mill’s “Dreams And Nightmares.”
I think it’s fair to say that ‘Just Wanna Rock has replaced, with all due respect, ‘Dreams And Nightmares,” as the new anthem of the Philadelphia Eagles this year. So I’m looking forward to hearing that song many, many times Super Bowl weekend.
Roommates, do you agree with Lil Uzi Vert and Meek Mill? Or DJ Drama?
