Lil Uzi Vert has officially claimed the first number-one rap album of 2023, as per Billboard.
According to Billboard, Lil Uzi Vert’s recently released ‘Pink Tape’ debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart for the week dated July 15. Additionally, the 28-track album has pushed 167,000 “equivalent album units in the US” since its release.
The outlet reports that ‘Pink Tape’ is Lil Uzi Vert’s third number-one album and the year’s “third-largest” album debut.
Furthermore, Billboard also adds that the album’s success marks the end to the “longest wait in a calendar year for rap set to lead the list since 1993.” Additionally, the last time the world had to wait this long during a calendar year for a number-one rap album was when Cypress Hill’s ‘Black Sunday’ debuted at number one on August 7, 1993.
Billboard adds that the most recent number-one rap album release is Metro Boomin’s ‘Heroes & Villains.’
Lil Uzi Vert initially reacted to the accomplishment via their Instagram Story Monday evening. There, they shared a repost from Metro Boomin of the Twitter account Chart Data, which announced their accomplishment to its 2.2 million Twitter followers.

Additionally, the 27-year-old has also reportedly become “one of the youngest artists in history” to chart 100 songs on the Hot 100, as reported by Chart Data.
According to Complex, 18 tracks from Lil Uzi Vert’s ‘Pink Tape’ debuted on the chart, which assisted them in earning the accomplishment. “Flooded the Face” reportedly sits at No. 11 on the Hot 100, while “Suicide Doors” sits at No. 25, and “Endless Fashion,” featuring Nicki Minaj, sits at No. 20.
As The Shade Room previously reported, the latter track featuring Minaj also earned the rapper a great deal of publicity for the ‘Pink Tape’ as Minaj’s verse made headlines with a catchy mention of Natalie Nunn, which Nunn has since embraced.
