Whew! Don’t mess with Lil Nas X, ’cause he’s not the one. Earlier today, he previewed a clip to his song ‘Late to da Party’ featuring NBA Youngboy. In the song, he takes direct shots at calls BET. Nas rapped, “F**k BET, f**k BET,” and boasted that he doesn’t need anyone to validate his success. The track also references three of the songs from his GRAMMY-nominated debut album, ‘Montero.’ The song was just the tip of the iceberg. He also shared a few tweets about homophobia in the Black community.
“This not over no bet award this is about the bigger problem of homophobia in the black community, y’all can sit and pretend all u want, but imma risk it all for us,” he tweeted. Nas also responded to a commenter who wanted to know why a GRAMMY-nominated artist acted this way. Nas responded, “This is my point exactly. How can I get acknowledged by the most acclaimed award show in the world and then not even just one nomination from my own people? Is that not crazy? Am I really tripping?”

As we previously reported, on June 1st, BET announced its 2022 BET Award nominees. At that time, Nas spoke out about not receiving any nominations. The list of nominations caused a stir with his fans as his ‘Industry Baby’ collaborator, Jack Harlow, landed a nomination for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist. Roommates, do you think Lil Nas X calling out BET was a good idea?
